Carlyle Sailing Association

What is CSA?

Founded in 1971, Carlyle Sailing Association is a not-for-profit sailing organization located just an hour east of Saint Louis, Missouri, on Carlyle Lake in Southern Illinois. With some of the finest sailing facilities in Midwest, we are a friendly, family-oriented, volunteer association dedicated to the sport of sailing. CSA has a number of active one-design fleets, as well as boats for rent. We have events year-round, including weekly races, regattas, parties, and sailing lessons.

Our harbor is situated on Carlyle Lake: a 26,000 acre, man-made lake; approximately 8 miles long and 3 miles wide. It is the largest lake in Illinois and enjoys a well-deserved reputation as one of the best sailing lakes in the Midwest and the Saint Louis area.

We are a friendly, family-oriented, volunteer association dedicated to the sport of sailing. Whether you're into competitive racing or just chilling out, CSA offers something for everyone!

It's time to sign up for Kinder Sail Camp!  July 26th-28th

This 3 day / 2 night Kinder Sail Camp is designed to give children, ages 6 to 9 years old, the chance to experience the thrill of sailing.  This camp will be very similar to our very popular week long overnight Sail Camp, but optimized for the younger age group. It will be a great primer for Harbor Mice and Junior Sailing in later years.

    • Lead by US Sailing Certified Instructors as well as youth counselors from Junior Sail Camp.
    • Flexible overnight arrangements: Group Overnight, Camping with parents, or Day Camp options
    • Sailing experiences on small youth sailboats with experienced youth counselors and on their own, sailing on cabin boats and catamarans.

Eight and nine year olds are encouraged to stay for overnight in the observation building, just like Junior Sail Camp.  All parents will need to be available for this weekend in case any special needs arise.  All parents are welcome to camp on CSA grounds.

Six and seven year olds are strongly encouraged to participate as a day camper. They can be on a wait list for consideration for overnight accommodations, behind the 8 and 9 year olds.  The parent of 6 and 7 year olds are strongly recommended to be on or near the premises overnight, in tents, car, or on boats, but no campers/RV's.

For planning purposes, there will be activities planned until 8pm on Friday night and 9 pm on Saturday night.  Breakfast is at 8am and activities will be starting by 9am.  Parents can sign in/out their campers as needed.  Camp check-in will be anytime between 8:30 and 10:00am on Friday morning.  Camp ends at 4:00pm on Sunday.

Looking forward to a fun Kinder Sail Camp,

    Mark Hood

    Sail Camp Director
