2019 Strawberry Regatta --- August 24th
(9am till we finish with an Optional Grill and Chill at the end of the day)
Calling all sailors!! Ladies, this regatta is for you! Gentlemen, do you
have a lady that crews for you during day sailing or racing? This year's
Strawberry Regatta can be a gift that you give that lady who makes your
sailing easier. We are encouraging all of the guys to switch places with
their female crew and put the gals at the helm with guys crewing, or girls
sail with girls. The only requirement is that the skipper be female. We
will highlight safety on the water in areas that make us gals a bit nervous. Docking under sail or with a motor, and Man Overboard drills. Never fear Larry Willson, we will NOT be running into the docks. We will have all kinds of space and a soft dock to practice with out on the lake. Ladies, what happens if you toss your male skipper overboard and then decide to let him back aboard? Will you know what to do? We will also have a “long” distance race with a twist to get to know some famous female sailors. Get your friends and the men together to crew for you ladies and come out and enjoy a day of tossing the Man Overboard, light luncheon, and a new sailing game of Catch the Strawberry! Girls and women of all ages are invited to join in the fun.
Another new twist for this year is that if you bring a Strawberry desert to share, you will not incur a regatta fee. Be creative and bring along the recipe if you like. If you decide that cooking for the event is a pain, that's okay too and you can pay a $10 regatta fee on site. (One desert per two people will count). Please RSVP by August 19th the number of sailors in your group for this fun event, so we will have enough food for the included lunch.
